Avoid the February Flop: Be Realistic not Rocky

Fit in February

We’ve all been there, ‘new year, new me’, just to find ourselves back on the sofa and half way through a tub of Ben n’ Jerry’s by mid-February. It doesn’t have to be this way! We believe that a realistic, fun and rewarding plan is more than enough to get you over that February hump. You don’t have to go ‘full Rocky’, dragging sledges through the snow while a cigar-waving alcoholic weighs it down, all you need to do is be proactive and stick at it! In this Blog we want to give you a few fun tips for February, about how to keep exercise interesting and how to improve your diet.

Make it Fun

Be social, getting in shape doesn’t have to be daunting, grab a buddy, partner or family member and do it together. Having this support is fantastic, not just for the fun aspect, but because your gym partner is there to motivate you and vicar-versa. Grabbing a gym-going buddy isn’t the only way to keep it interesting, why not try something new this February? A great way to stay fit and have fun is by enrolling in some classes.

Get Classy in February

Classes are unsurprisingly one of the most popular ways to work out, the gym can sometimes be a lonely place but classes are a great way to socialise and exercise in tandem. You can find all manner of classes in the modern gym; from Zumba and Pilates to Spin and Boxercise (you can always be a little bit Rocky). Find the class you love this February, at Personal Training Didsbury we offer a fantastic range of classes tailored for people of different ages and fitness levels, so we can really get the best out of you!

Be Realistic and Plan Accordingly

There’s no point telling yourself you are going to be in the gym before and after work five days a week, it doesn’t work that way. Yes, some people can and do exercise that often however, this just simply isn’t realistic for most people. What we have found works for our customers is being micro-ambitious. For example, if you have just managed 5 Kilometres on a rowing machine set yourself a goal of hitting 10 Kilometres by the end of the month. This gives you a realistic and attainable project to work towards.

Fill up on Fibre This February

You’ve heard of Fibre-optics, now let’s optimise your fibre intake! Our foodie tip for February is to get plenty of fibre, and this isn’t just because it works as alliteration, though that is a factor. Fibre is a fantastic naturally occurring aspect of any healthy diet. When it comes to health and well-being the benefits are endless. Not only does it aid muscle development and weight loss, but it plays an active role in bone strengthening

and the prevention of heart related issues and diabetes.

Keep Fighting Through, Spring is Around the Corner

We’ve given you a few handy tips here for how to get motivated, how to improve your diet and how to get the most out of your February. It doesn’t matter how fit you are or what your motivation is, don’t let the February hump stop you from getting active and sticking to those New Year’s resolutions. Just remember to be realistic not Rocky and keep it fun this February, you got this.
