It’s Spring: The Summer Body Preparation Starts Now

Summer Body

Though a lot of us crave that toned and slender summer body, very few of us put in the hours to achieve it! There are usually a couple of reasons for this. Sometimes people can quite simply get bored, by April or May they lose interest in their plans to get that beach body they are after. Alternatively, people start at the wrong time and will have read some awfully inaccurate article which proclaims that anybody can get a beach body in 3 weeks! Here are a few tips that I have picked up over the year on how to get that summer-ready body!

It’s Getting Hot in Here, So Put on Your Gym Clothes

Finally, after the dull weather of Winter, we have some sun! The days are getting longer and why not make the most out of the extra afternoon and evening light? Going for a run, a walk or a cycle no longer requires a torch so it’s that time of year again for us to get out there and get active. Ignore what they say on Game of Thrones, winter is not coming; it is well and truly behind us! We have more energy when the sun is out and it is time for all of us to put it to good use!

Routine, Routine, Routine.

Exercise is all about routine, and the sooner you start, the sooner you will get used to it! You can think of exercise like cooking, for many of us it is a pleasure, whereas for others it’s a chore. If you put the time into cooking, the results will often be something tasty and enjoyable. However when we don’t put the time in, we end up with something disappointing. Going to thy gym doesn’t have to be a chore, and if you’re doing it right you won’t feel the frustration that so many feel. As a personal trainer I know that a carefully thought out plan can have great results, be carried out easily and even be enjoyable!

Starting your summer plan early is a great way to take the weight off, in more ways than one. You will not only literally lose weight, but relieve any anxieties about whether you will accomplish your summer body in time.

You are Not Alone

We are all inherently social creatures and often by doing tasks in isolation we can feel a bit lonely. The gym can be an intimidating place and I would always recommend working out with a friend, family member or partner. Alternatively, both exercise classes and personal training plans are proven methods of shifting the pounds and sticking at it. Whoever it is that you chose to work out with, they can help motivate you and make your gym experience more enjoyable.

Let’s Wrap this Up

The message I give to my clients is simple, work for it and the results will come. All of us have the capability to look great in a bikini, a pair of trunks or, god forbid, a pair speedos. Where we often find ourselves lacking is the discipline to stick at it and turn those ideas into a reality. The gym scares some people; they think they must attend for 3 hours a day, six days a week. Yes, if you are Arnold Schwarzenegger and the year is 1970 then maybe, and fair play. However, if you are not an Austrian born muscle-bound monster, then this simply isn’t necessary. Spring has only just begun, meaning you have an entire season to get your desired summer body.

Often when we rush to get results, we put ourselves off and can become frustrated. The reality is that consistently working at improving your body is far easier and healthier than simply trying to cram exercise into the 3 weeks leading up to your holiday.
